Joelie allows you to quickly define your website's data rules without writing any SQL. The Joelie Data Def can be thought of as similar to a database's schema.
Data Defs are stored in your Joelie site's .datadef and .datadef_protected fields. Rules about general data on your site should be stored in .datadef, while rules about private data should be stored in .datadef_protected. Only your site's administrative users and their code will be able to access data as described in .datadef_protected.
